The History of RFL |
Cals came up with an idea to prove his superior football statistical mettle against the likes of Joebob and Brian Pototo.
Kevin Archibald and Josh Veshia entered the RFL Club. Pat Callery's Rampaging Gibbons of the Apocalypse (led by Ricky Watters and Shannon Sharpe) won 11 of 12 - after losing their opener - to claim the Steamroller Trophy. 1996 RFL GM of the Year Dave Brodkin made a few shrewd maneuvers to convert Luscious Brodkin into the highest point-scoring squad of the season (led by Mark Brunell, Curtis Martin, Michael Jackson, Carl Pickens, and Wesley Walls). However... the silent but deadly forces amassed by JOE PYNADATH whomped and whooped their way over Cals' Gibbons in the semis and Brodz' Luscious crew in Aglione Bowl VII! In the most intense Ags Bowl ever in the hallowed history of RFL, Hooligans a Whompin' and a Whoopin' stunned Luscious Brodkin 25-24 in BENCH points - after their starters finished deadlocked at 45.
Newcomers to the RFL circle of light were Ed Seto, Chris Carroll, Dylan Steeg, Clark Goebel, Joe Parker, and the little giant - SHIVAN DESAI. The 1997 season got off to a rocking start as Josh Veshia slept through the Draft. The Ragtag Romanians filled out their roster with 12 free agents and actually managed 3 victories (plus garnering 2nd Team All-RFL honors for one player, WR Rob Moore)! Ed Seto's Red Rover (led by Karim Abdul-Jabbar) claimed the Steamroller, but was rudely bounced from the postseason festivities in the 1st round by Dylan Steeg's Surge. John Wilson's Landlord Luggage (led by Terrell Davis, WHO ELSE?!?!?) charged their way to the championship in Aglione Bowl VIII by lopsided scores of 48-18 (over Carroll's Bust a Nut by Bombyx), 26-3 (over Pynadath's Gaseous Wombats), and 42-18 (over Brodkin's Chortling Tushy Whackers).
Walter Grayeski and Sean Anderson joined the League. After Josh Veshia rolled through the regular season with his trio of Bronco studs (Davis, Elway, and Sharpe), Dave Wang's PMS snuck up and knocked out the Revered Romanians in the 1st round of the playoffs! Stan Wilson's top-scoring Foxy Brown (led by the dynamic rookie duo of Fred Taylor and Randy Moss) strolled through the playoffs (with 44-33, 42-35, and 42-31 scores) to capture Aglione Bowl IX. The victory in Ags Bowl IX came over solid rookie GM Wally Grayeski's Crazed Beagles on the Run.
Brian Grayeski (Wally), Gary Eigen (Wang) and Kevin Archibald (return from hiatus) took the places of Sean Anderson, Lance Harry and Ed Seto in our Society. Brodz' Skintight Leather Assless Bodysuits finished the regular season tied with Vesh's Romanians at 11-3, but SLAB claimed the Steamroller due to a 520-464 edge in Points For. SLAB was led by the likes of Eddie George, Cris Carter and Mike Hollis. The first round of the playoffs was not kind to Brodz and Vesh as each managed only 12 points in losses to Kevin's DCIAC and Dylan's UWSSM respectively. Kevin fell to JoePa's The South Side Black Sox - and Dylan fell to Wang's Ferocious Underwear - in the semifinals. In the all-MIT-KappaSigma Aglione Bowl X, FU defeated the Black Sox 43-9 - as FU outscored SLAB 137-53 in the postseason to claim top scoring honors for the season.
