We've just completed Week 7 of the 2k3 season - and therefore reached the halfway point of the regular season, so here's the Midseason Report: (record, PPG, Steamroller race position, Foge position, JoePa position) 1) Joebob, Chocolate Love (2-5, 42.9, 15th, Foge: 13th, JoePa: 10th) Foge and JoePa predicted a season without an appearance in the playoffs for Joebob, but Chocolate Love is struggling even more than the prognosticators envisioned. Both Foge and JoePa correctly predicted that Trung was way too much of a reach in the 2nd round. Suckiness and/or gimpiness were due to catch up to Canidate, and Joebob did indeed yank Trung in favor of M Pittman - another classic Joebob story himself. Any "regular" citizen in Pittman's shoes would be sitting in the pokey at this very moment. But thanks to Joebob's deep pockets and willingness to go above and beyond RFL's legal fees cap, Pittman's posse of ambulance-chasers has managed to repeatedly postpone his prison-time until after the season ends. The 2nd biggest question mark on Joebob's head is his inexplicable "start C Fauria at all costs" stance. Yes, Fauria scored a bunch of TDs last year. But if RFL was all about last year's stats, Joebob would win every year... hey, we *are* writing about Joebob! On the plus side for Chocolate Love is the performance of T Green at QB. R Williams has also been doing ok. A Toomer and M Vanderjagt round out the steady-but-not-spectacular portion of Joebob's roster. As for the negative side of the ledger, M Booker has been gimpy and has been hindered by the suckiness of Kordell. A Lelie has not bust out and is at the mercy of the Snake's tendency to throw the ball to the other team. And Anquan Boldin was picked up a week too late and plays for Arizona. 2) Mike, Angry Starfish (4-3, 44.0, 5th, Foge: 3rd, JoePa: 5th) Thanks to 2 incredibly mad Monday Night stay-ahead victories over the last 2 weeks (1 pt lead against an ATL PK who got shutout, 10 pt lead against Gannon-Jolley-Janikowski who only managed 5), Angry Starfish has upped their record to 4-3 - and now have firm control over their postseason destiny. Currently sitting in 5th place in the Steamroller race, Mike is right on schedule regarding where Foge and JoePa had this team pegged. Both Foge and JoePa righteously slammed A Twain before the season started. Mike quickly benched the Pats RB after only 1 week - going with Andre Johnson or Drew Bennett as a 3rd WR. P Burress and R Gardner have done adequately as the starting WR duo, but Mike certainly expects these 2 guys to take their games up a notch or 2 in the 2nd half of the season. Mike will also want a little more consistent excellence from LaDainian. LT has games of 3, 3, 6, 15, 18, 21 so far. Scoring 15 every week would be more acceptable. B Favre (currently the #3 QB in the league) is performing a bit better than expected - especially considering the injuries and bad hands afflictions running rampant through the GB receiving corps. We'll see how well Favre holds up over the 2nd half. The major factor in Favre's favor... that Pack D is just bad enough to keep GB passing to play catchup. We are still stunned that Mike - a supposedly devout Bronco-hater - would pick Elam to be his PK, but Elam is justifying his starting role with his on-field performance. B Miller is struggling a little at TE. We hope he waits at least 1 more week before busting out. 3) Tarang, The Hustlers (3-4, 42.6, 9th, Foge: 1st, JoePa: 13th) Foge and JoePa had quite a different take on Tarang's team coming out of the draft. The Hustlers are sitting smack dab in between the 2 predictors' projections. With games of 78, 68 and 50 pts... The Hustlers have supported Foge's #1 preseason ranking. But with games of 16, 17 and 27 pts... Tarang has also justified Foge's #13 ranking. The Hustlers have performed in direct relation to J Garcia through 7 weeks. In the 4 games where Garcia has hit for double digits, The Hustlers have averaged 59.5 ppg. In the 3 games where Garcia fell short of 10 pts, The Hustlers have averaged 20 ppg. To a lesser extent, Tarang's team has also relied heavily upon the performance of C Portis. Portis has been a bit of a disappointment so far this season. While Ahman and Priest are averaging 16 and 15 ppg respectively. Portis is currently running just short of 11 ppg. Other factors dragging Tarang down from his lofty forecast from Foge... 1) J Stewart got hurt just before the season started - leaving The Hustlers without a viable 2nd RB. 2) P Price's production suffered much more than anticipated following M Vick's preseason boo boo. Have we mentioned that Doug Johnson isn't worthy of an NFL paycheck? 3) C Lewis has very quickly sunk from a top 3 TE in RFL a few years ago to not being worthy of backing up C Fauria. 4) J Feely's production suffered much more than anticipated following M Vick's preseason boo boo. Have we mentioned that Doug Johnson and Kurt Warner are looking for grocery-bagging jobs? As for the positives for Tarang, we recognize that the rookie pulled the trigger on the 1st trade of the season (underachieving Peerless for up-and-comer L Betts). J Smith is now back from his drug suspension. And Keenan McCardell is performing quite nicely. 4) Brodz, The Axis of Evil (2-4-1, 36.7, 13th, Foge: 16th, JoePa: 14th) Brodz is running a little bit ahead of what Foge and JoePa expected from his team, but certainly Brodz has proven in the past that his GMing skills are such that he can compensate for any shortcomings coming out of the draft. As Foge suspected, The Axis of Evil has really struggled to put points up on the board. From having WR issues and S Mack as the 2nd RB and a big question mark at TE... Brodz really set himself up for GM of the Year honors - if he could get things turned around. P Manning and Shaun Alexander and D Driver were expected to be the foundation of this team. Manning and Alexander have done quite well, but a Week 1 injury to Driver put Brodz' WR situation more deeply in the murky goo. After trying out Javon Walker and Dennis Northcutt and Bobby Shaw, Shaw seemed to emerge as Brodz' favorite. But Shaw has since managed only 5 pts in his last 3 starts. S Mack was a bit below average as a #2 RB - causing Brodz to look elsewhere. Emmitt's injury/weeping opened the door for M Shipp - a budding talent Brodz developed last season. And in Shipp's bye week, Brodz even managed to get 15 pts from Brian Westbrook. After D Graham got shutout in Week 1, Brodz immediately went to work on fixing his TE problem. After trying out E Kinney and Dallas Clark, Brodz chose to ride with Dallas - who could well prove to be a solid answer at TE. But just as Brodz has seemingly solved some issues at RB #2 and TE, a fire seems to've lit up purely unexpectedly at the PK position. M Gramatica has been about as automatic as PKs can be over the past few years, but at 4.3 ppg through 6 starts... Mar-TEEN has been almost as awful as his little, less-coordinated brother Bill. 5) Zach, Spunk Monkeys (6-1, 52.3, 1st, Foge: 12th, JoePa: 16th) Coming off an Aglione Bowl championship rookie season, Zach got little respect from Foge and JoePa. The picking of Michael Bennett in round 3 (the same Bennett who each of the other 15 GMs knew was out for perhaps the entire season) was clearly the #1 factor in Zach's lowered expectations. Foge was also a bit wary of Priest as the #5 overall pick, but JoePa figured Priest to perhaps be the 1 guy in RFL who could help Zach overcome a "wasted" 3rd round pick. But Spunk Monkeys got off to an amazing 6-0 start this season - before a surprise Week 7 defeat at the hands of JoePa put an end to Zach's run at a perfect season. Zach's winning ways have primarily been the result of standout performances from Priest and Air McNair. Priest has slowed down a little. After scoring 20+ points in each of his 1st 3 starts, he's averaged less than 10 ppg in his last 4 starts. While McNair took a backseat to Priest in the 1st 3 games, Air has stepped into Priest's breach the last 4 weeks. The 3rd key to Zach's hot start was having a 3rd player step up and complement Air and Priest. D Mason has been that player twice, Darrell Jackson twice, Q Morgan once, and the PK has kicked in a couple of times. Zach's weaknesses have been exposed to everyone. Zach has averaged 2 ppg from the RB/WR spot - as Q Morgan, M Boerigter, TJ Duckett are struggling to hang on until M Bennett can perhaps split some carries with MIN's 3 other RBs. TE is another sore spot for Spunk Monkeys - 0 pts in 7 starts for Teyo and Chad Lewis. And D Mason and D Jackson have had more downs than ups. JoePa was able to beat Zach thanks to holding the 2 WRs, the RB/WR and the TE to 5 total pts. But after riding 3 of his beloved Raiders to Ags Bowl glory last season, Zach somehow had the foresight to jump off the Raider bandwagon this year - leaving Gary to hold that bag this year. 6) Gary, West Coast Offense (3-3-1, 42.6, 6th, Foge: 11th, JoePa: 9th) Speaking of Gary... West Coast Offense certainly has felt the effects of the Raiders' nosedive this year. Starting QB R Gannon has had 2 good starts (11, 15 pts) and 5 really bad ones (2, 2, 3, 6, 1 pts). TE Jolley has 1 good start (9 pts) and 6 starts with 2 pts or fewer. PK Seabass has done the best of Gary's Raiders, but at 7.6 ppg... he's no Vanderjagt (10.7 ppg). Gary thought he'd wiped out 2 of his Raider headaches with one trade (Jolley to Clark for Gannon-replacement-to-be M Bulger), but Clark backed out of the deal - in spite of Commish Wang's attempts to convince him not to (had Clark traded Bulger that week, Wang would have beaten a Hasselbeck or Couch-led Man U squad). But despite Gary's problems with his underachieving Raiders, West Coast Offense is exceeding the expectations of Foge and JoePa. Neither prognosticator had Gary pegged as a playoff team, but WCO is currently sitting pretty at 6th. Leading the charge for Gary is Deuce McAllister - currently tied with C Portis at #8 among RBs. J Horn (#8 among WRs) is also pulling his weight for Gary. I Bruce (tied for #13 among WRs) is also putting up decent numbers for Gary, but the test for Gary in the 2nd half of the season will be how he phases in replacements for Gannon, Jolley and Seabass - as the Raiders will clearly be entering a rebuilding phase shortly. After getting mixed results from Keyshawn, McCaffrey and J Morton at the 3rd WR position, Gary might have found a diamond in the rough in Domanick Davis as a #2 RB. If Gary can hang onto his playoff spot, perhaps GM of the Year consideration will be deserved. 7) Wang, BoyzInTheChineseHood (2-5, 40.7, 16th, Foge: 2nd, JoePa: 3rd) Foge and JoePa were both high on Wang's team coming out of the draft, but Boyz In The Chin Hood limps into the halfway point in dead last. Sure, M Faulk's Week 3 injury hurt BITCH quite a bit... but it's not like Marshall was putting up any numbers before he got hurt anyway. J Rice has been another major disappointment for Wang - and JoePa correctly identified Jerry as a weak link in the BITCH chain. Rice has been a major curse for Wang. The last time Wang picked Rice (#17 overall in 1997, a "draft-time steal" proclaimed Cals), Rice got hurt in Week 1 and sent The Cream Machine spiralling to an 11th place finish. After failing to "reputation" his way to a TD in either MNF appearance so far this season, Wang decided to cut bait - and that Rice simply didn't have the separation this year to get any meaningful numbers. Elsewhere on Wang's roster... QB figured to be a strength with up-and-coming A Brooks and comeback-player-of-the-year T Maddox. Neither has done much to impress thus far. S Davis has been solid (for the most part), but hasn't scored more than 1 TD in any game. C Chambers splashed onto the 2k3 scene with 18 Week 1 pts, but has only totaled 23 pts in his subsequent 5 starts. T Heap has produced adequately for a TE, but rookie QB Boller is having more of a negative impact on Heap's numbers than expected. Josh Brown figured to be a sleeper hit for Wang at PK, but never got onto the field - as Wang turned to Mort Andersen, Aaron Elling and Jeff Wilkins once the curtain went up on the season. J Brown got a little revenge - as Drew started him (while J Reed sat out his bye) in a 2-pt win over Wang. It certainly looks like Wang will be sitting his 2nd straight season out of the playoffs. 8) Shivan, Big Brown Boys (5-2, 43.3, 3rd, Foge: 9th, JoePa: 12th) Foge downgraded Shiv from 3rd to 9th based upon the post-draft preseason M Vick injury. Wouldn't you know it... Shiv has made it to the halfway point in 3rd anyway. J Harrington has done an OK job in Vick's spot for the most part. Shiv also got a stellar emergency start from J Blake. Big Brown Boys has managed to go 5-2 without Vick thanks mostly to having a few different starters come up huge from week to week. Harrington, C Rogers, A Crumpler, F Taylor, T Hambrick, D Akers, D Boston, Blake and Steve Smith have all shared the spotlight for Shiv this season. RBs Taylor and Hambrick have been pretty steady (if not spectacular) for Shiv so far. Fred and Troy have both hit double digits twice - with Fred topping out at 21 once. Shiv's WRs have been quite hot and cold. Rookie Lion C Rogers and $47M Charger D Boston are prime examples of that WR streakiness. S Smith and W Chrebet have also been of the same ilk. At TE Alge came out of the gate fast (20 pts in 2 games), but then defenses figured out Alge was the only Falcon pass-catcher they needed to double-team - holding Alge to 9 pts in his last 5 starts. D Akers has been negatively impacted by the hurt thumb of D McNabb. Both Foge and JoePa spoke lowly of Hambrick and Rogers, but Hambrick has done fine - and C Rogers played about as well as a GM could hope for from a rookie WR. The Cowboys will start playing some real teams soon, so perhaps Hambrick's numbers will drop. But the big ace up Shiv's sleeve is still M Vick. The poor start by the Falcons might limit the playing time and explosiveness of Vick, but he'd still be a huge improvement over Harrington. 9) Clark, Manchester United (5-2, 41.6, 4th, Foge: 7th, JoePa: 7th) Clark got off to a hot 4-0 start this season, but seemed to've pulled a hammy in Week 5. Only a scrubby 37-31 Week 6 win over Wang kept Clark from losing 3 in a row. The timing of Manchester United's slump is no coincidence. A Zereoue has lost a lot of touches (and now his starting job) to Bettis, and Edgerrin got hurt (again). Also contributing to the slump has been the shutting down of his WRs (H Ward and K Robinson). While Clark's RB situation might be unsettled for a number of weeks, the WR situation shouldn't be anything Clark needs to concern himself with. Hines and Koren are big-time studs who will get balls thrown their way many times over the 2nd half of the season. Regarding Clark's RBs, as Amos heads back to the PIT bench... perhaps Edgerrin will be fully healed from his ailments. Moe Williams is the 3rd RB. But Moe is facing competition for touches from the emerging Onterrio, the healing D Chapman, and down the road... a healthy M Bennett. Clark's QB position is a definite strength. M Hasselbeck was the starter coming out of the draft, but M Bulger has taken over since. T Couch is still on the roster, but shouldn't see any playing time behind the other 2. TE has been a void in Clark's lineup (5 pts in 7 games). The PK has also been subpar. But with a 5-2 record, Clark is poised to make a run at his 2nd straight Steamroller - and perhaps a 3rd straight trip to the Ags Bowl. JoePa figured Clark might be better than his #7 preseason ranking. Foge perhaps feels that the past 3 weeks are more indicative of Manchester United's true colors. 10) Ali, Wet Noodles (2-4-1, 36.1, 14th, Foge: 6th, JoePa: 1st) Wet Noodles haven't quite measured up to where Foge and JoePa had this team pegged. JoePa figured Emmitt to be the only weak link on Ali's team - and Emmitt's injury was perhaps the blessing to force Ali into getting a late-blossoming K Faulk into the starting lineup. But so much more than Emmitt has gone wrong for Ali. K Warner was supposed to be the starting QB. He lost his STL job to Bulger in Week 2. E George has been a disappointment - as Eddie is running as old as the Raiders look. Emmitt sucked before his tears started flowing. Rod Smith has been hurt by the DEN QB situation (Jake sucked, then broke his foot getting up from his couch; Beuerlein sucked, then got his pinky snapped off to the side). Marvcus Pollard has stunk for the most part - as Dallas Clark has emerged as Manning's shiny new TE toy. The only steady producers for Ali have been Marvin Harrison and the PK. P Ramsey and Q Carter are now Ali's QBs. Ramsey would put up better numbers if his line could give him more than 1 sec of pocket time. Quincy's RFL effectiveness has dramatically improved over last year, but he's still in the Aikman-like production zone RFL-wise. No apparent help is on the way for Ali's RB troubles. Eddie and K Faulk are now the only RBs on the roster. K Faulk is claiming a big chunk of the Pats' carries now, but Cloud and A Twain are lurking in the shadows. How long will TEN stick with Eddie as the race for the playoffs begins in earnest? Kevin Johnson, Jurevicius and Byron Chamberlain are Ali's backup pass-catchers. Not much help there. Living up to Foge's and JoePa's expectations might be too tall a task. 11) Stan, The Belching Brides (3-3-1, 42.3, 7th, Foge: 10th, JoePa: 8th) Foge and JoePa predicted that Stan would be squarely on the bubble this season. In 7th place through half the season, The Belching Brides are right on schedule. JoePa didn't like the K Collins pick, but this was supposed to be the year that the Giants pulled together as an O. With Amani and Ike and Shockey (and Tiki) to throw to, Kerry was expected to bust out the passing numbers this year. That hasn't really happened yet, but there are still 7 regular season games to go. Foge anticipated that Tiki and C Garner would combine to form quite a prolific RB duo this season, but that hasn't really happened yet either. Tiki's been fumbling the ball a little too much, and Charlie's been hampered by the bumbling Raiders. In Chad Johnson and Donte Stallworth, Stan was supposed to have a pair of young stud WRs. Chad has certainly been excellent (tied for 4th among WRs), but Donte's dropsies (and A Brooks' struggles) have held Stallworth back thus far. Rounding out Stan's starters... B Franks has been quite acceptable at TE, but Stan has had major problems at PK. After not drafting a PK, Stan struggled to come up with a measly 6 PK points over the 1st 4 weeks of the season! Stan has averaged 9 ppg over the last 3 weeks with the Dallas PK, but that production should drop as DAL has finished the creampuff portion of their schedule. On The Belching Brides' bench, G Hearst has done splendidly as the sole backup RB. Stan has spent quite a bit of effort cultivating his backup WRs - a group that currently includes C Bradford, B Finneran and E Kennison. Stan appears to have the talent/potential to maintain his charge towards a playoff spot. But at least 3 out of Kerry, Tiki, Charlie and Donte would appear to need to step up. 12) Vesh, Dirty Sanchez (5-2, 47.6, 2nd, Foge: 4th, JoePa: 6th) Vesh has managed to out perform Foge's and JoePa's expectations thus far. The unquestioned leader of Dirty Sanchez has been Ahman Green - who is currently the frontrunner for RFL MVP and is 7 pts up on Priest after 7 weeks. After stumbling out of the gate with a mere 30 pts in Week 1, Dirty Sanchez has been one of the more consistently top-performing teams for the past 6 weeks (scoring between 42 and 56 pts every week). The amazing thing about Vesh's team is that there isn't another player (besides Ahman) that can be counted upon week in and week out. Vesh has been most fortunate that 1 or 2 different guys - in addition to Ahman - are able to step up each week. At QB, J Blake and Kordell have had 1 good game each. At RB #2, the top performance was 7 pts from M Cloud in Week 6. Among the WRs, E Moulds and Troy Brown have had 1 good game each. Perhaps Vesh's saving grace has been the rebirth of S Sharpe. Sharpe is currently the #1 TE in RFL. But after taking some huge licks from the Vikes in Week 7 (and with the injuries to Jake and Beuerlein), one would have to figure that Sharpe's production will drop precipitously over the course of the 2nd half of the season. And now at the halfway point, Vesh has traded his most talented WR (some might say his *only* talented WR) E Moulds to Drew for Brad Johnson. It remains to be seen if BJ will be able to solidify Vesh's QB rotation. Kordell (currently benched), vINTy (headed back to the bench) and D Kanell (DEN fill-in) are also on the roster. Trading Moulds (even a gimpy Moulds) might have damaged Vesh's WR corps beyond repair. Troy Brown and T Streets are currently the only 2 WRs left on the Dirty Sanchez roster. It has been proven in the past that trying to mix and match starting free agent WRs week to week only results in losses. 13) Richard, Spankin It... (2-3-2, 38.6, 12th, Foge: 8th, JoePa: 2nd) Richard has really struggled to justify his preseason accolades. But one needs to look no further than in Richard's backfield for the culprits. D McNabb has been Spankin It so much that he hurt his throwing hand thumb - severely limiting his effectiveness in passing the ball. With 29 pts in 6 starts, McNabb (#17) ranks below Kordell (and Slash only has 4 starts) among RFL QBs. And since Richard waited until the 5th (W Dunn) and 6th (J Bettis) rounds to pick his RBs, Spankin It... has really had problems getting solid numbers from their ground game (as Foge and JoePa expected). But now that Bettis has reclaimed his starting role from Zereoue, perhaps Richard will do better running the ball in the 2nd half of the season. Aside from McNabb's woes, the passing game was supposed to be Richard's strength all along. With WRs TO and Laveranues and TE T Gonzalez, Spankin It... was supposed to outclass every other team in these 3 positions. And in fact, Richard is currently 2nd (JoePa leads 130-125) in point production from the 2 WR and TE spots. The potential exists for Richard to really get these 3 guys performing at a higher level. And when you add in better performances from McNabb... Richard should be able to make a serious run at a playoff spot. So aside from McNabb, Bettis, TO, L Coles, Gonzalez and the PK... the only glaring weakness on Richard's roster is at RB/WR. Tim Brown has made 6 of the 7 starts at that position - totaling 13 pts with a 9, two 2s, and 3 0s. J Pathon (8 pts) got the other start. Richard's other options are currently W Dunn, rookie RB L Johnson and J Mungro. If Richard can get this position figured out, look out! 14) Cals, Love Touch (3-4, 40.4, 11th, Foge: 15th, JoePa: 15th) Cals got virtually no respect from Foge or JoePa following the draft. Both prognosticators severely panned Love Touch's RBs (A Train and K Barlow), Foge and JoePa had issues with Josh Reed as a #2 WR, and Foge also questioned the skillz of TE F Jones and PK R Lindell. The 2 shiny points of light for Cals were clearly D Culpepper and R Moss. And aside from a DET cheapshot to Culpepper's back, Daunte and Randy have not disappointed. Culpepper had to miss 2 games with those broken back bones, and Cals must keep his fingers crossed that Culpepper will remain healthy the remainder of the season. R Moss has clearly been miffed about being the 3rd WR drafted this season - and is doing his best to prove the drafters of M Harrison and TO wrong. T Holt might end up with the last laugh in the end, though. As much as A Train was bashed at the beginning of the season, Cals' UMich classmate had actually put up some adequate numbers (in Weeks 4 and 5). But with his recent injury, perhaps all the naysayers' nays will prove to be justified in the end. K Barlow was supposed to further nudge G Hearst out of the picture this season, but that hasn't happened for Cals. And just as rookie Onterrio has developed into a worthy starter, it now appears that M Bennett will reappear on the scene in the Vikes crowded backfield. Regarding Josh Reed, Cals was fortunate to have P Warrick seize control of the opportunity to get some playing time. Cals bailed on J Reed after only 1 week. But after B Schroeder failed to impress in 2 starts, Cals turned to Warrick. Darnerian McCants is certainly not the answer. As Foge predicted, TE and PK have been ongoing areas of concern for Cals. Freddie begat Jed begat Riemersma begat Desmond begat 5 total pts. And Cals is in the bottom 6 among PK pts. 15) Drew, Midget Tossers (3-4, 49.9, 8th, Foge: 5th, JoePa: 11th) Drew has the 2nd highest scoring team, but a losing record. Foge anticipated Drew's ability to score. JoePa anticipated Drew's bad luck in finding ways to lose. Clearly Midget Tossers don't do D. After spending his 1st 2 draft picks on T Henry and J Lewis, everyone knew that Drew would be cramming the ball down everyone's throat. And at the halfway mark, Travis and Jamal are the 3rd and 4th ranked RBs in RFL - ahead of nearly every RB drafted ahead of them (R Williams, Tomlinson, Portis, M Faulk, Deuce, Edgerrin, and Tiki). And during Travis' and Jamal's bye weeks, Drew got 10s each from L Gordon and Rudi Johnson. Seems like Drew's made off with the DEN O line. In addition to Drew's defensive shortcomings, Midget Tossers have gotten essentially no production from their WRs - as JoePa expected. C Conway, Muhsin, J Thrash and A Bryant have all done their best to keep Drew from winning games. The top performance from a Midget Tosser WR thus far was an 8-spot in Week 3 from E Kennison. Perhaps Drew's recent trade for E Moulds will light a fire under this corps' ass, but what remains to be seen is how damaged Moulds' goods are. J Shockey was supposed to shock the TE world this season. S Sharpe has outscored Shockey by 50% so far, but the big blue TE has shown signs of busting out recently. And if he merely stops dropping the TD passes that keep coming his way, Shockey could very well end up being 1st team All-RFL this year. Drew is getting average numbers from D Bledsoe and the PK, so as long as the WRs get in gear... Midget Tossers should be able to nab a spot in the postseason - and be a serious threat. 16) JoePa, samurai penguins (3-4, 42.0, 10th, Foge: 14th, JoePa: 4th) JoePa isn't doing as well as he predicted he would, but he's at least proving Foge wrong. samurai penguins have been severely hampered by the performances of their RBs - C Dillon and W Green. JoePa and Drew essentially picked their starting RBs simultaneously (end of 1st round, start of 2nd round). But while Drew's duo has combined for 159 pts, JoePa's pair has a meager total of 51! W Green has showed little resemblance to the guy who blossomed over the 2nd half of the 2k2 season for Wang. But at least he's showing up to play each week. C Dillon has come up with mysterious ailments over the last 3 weeks, has openly sulked in the penguin locker room, and is now demanding a trade to America's Team. JoePa was hoping that Alstott would be able to hold down the fort until Dillon got his ass back in gear, but Alstott's neck bones broke. However... Alstott going down for the season opened the door for JoePa to get S Moss onto the field. And Santana has not disappointed JoePa of late. Another injury that really hurt JoePa's club was the sports hernia of Jerry Porter. Ike Hilliard has struggled to pick up Porter's slack, but Troy Edwards and S Moss seized their opportunities - and now Porter appears ready to catch all those TDs that Ti Brown and J Rice are too slow to nab. As for the bright spots on the samurai penguins lineup... T Holt has surged to the top of the RFL WR points list. Holt has even made it through his bye week. But I Bruce has started clamoring for a few more red zone looks, so perhaps Holt won't score as much over the 2nd half of the season. At QB, T Brady is currently #6 - and ahead of the likes of Kerry, Daunte, Bulger and McNabb. At TE, R McMichael is tied with T Heap - just 2 pts behind a 3rd place tie with Shockey and Alge. If only JoePa's RBs can get cranking...
